Golf+ Launches 'Immersive Putting' for Meta Quest 3 and 3S

The mixed reality feature overlays virtual greens onto real-world floors, allowing golfers to practice with their own equipment at home.

Golf+ has launched "Immersive Putting," a mixed reality experience designed to turn any living room into a high-fidelity practice green. Available for Meta Quest 3 and 3S users, the feature allows golfers to use their own physical putter and golf ball while the headset overlays a virtual course onto their actual floor.

The system utilizes the Quest 3 and 3S's color passthrough and depth sensing capabilities to map the user's room and anchor a virtual green to the floor. By tracking the real ball's launch speed and direction, the software simulates a realistic trajectory across virtual contours. To help users refine their game, the system provides detailed data analytics for every stroke, including the start line measured in degrees, pace, and the final proximity to the hole. According to the GOLF+ Blog, the goal is to ensure that "your stroke is your stroke" and "your ball is your ball."

The Home Practice Gap

Putting typically accounts for roughly 40% of all strokes in a round of golf, yet it remains one of the most difficult skills to practice effectively at home. Until now, home options were largely polarized. Most golfers relied on flat putting mats that offered no slope or break, while high-end alternatives included camera-based TV systems that forced players to look away from the ball or expensive projector greens that required significant space and investment.

Bridging the Simulator Divide

Immersive Putting aims to bridge the gap between these low-fidelity mats and professional-grade simulators. By maintaining the user's natural gaze on a physical ball while introducing virtual course breaks, the tool provides a training environment that mimics real-world conditions without the need for expensive hardware installations. This accessibility allows golfers to practice complex reads and speed control in small living spaces that would otherwise be unable to accommodate a simulator.

Access and Requirements

Due to the technical requirements for depth sensing and passthrough, the feature is not supported on the Meta Quest 2. Access to Immersive Putting is bundled with the GOLF+ PASS subscription. The service is priced at $49.99 for the first year, with the annual cost increasing to $99.99 thereafter.

As mixed reality continues to evolve, the industry will be watching to see if this hybrid approach—combining physical equipment with virtual physics—becomes the standard for home athletic training. For now, the focus remains on whether this digital integration can translate into lower scores on actual grass.
