Robotics Startup Lyte AI Hits $1.6 Billion Valuation After $165 Million Series C
The physical AI company aims to eliminate sensor calibration bottlenecks with its vertically integrated perception platform.
Lyte AI has secured $165 million in Series C funding to accelerate the production of its robotic perception systems. The investment, led by Maverick Silicon, pushes the startup's post-money valuation to $1.6 billion.
The funding follows a rapid ascent for the company, which emerged from stealth in early 2026 with $107 million in aggregate funding. Lyte AI specializes in "Physical AI," focusing on the critical ability of robots to sense and navigate the physical environment. The company intends to use the new capital to scale its vertically integrated sensing platforms, which are designed to serve a wide array of applications including robotaxis, humanoid robots, and industrial robotic arms.
Solving the Calibration Bottleneck
Founded in 2021 by a team of engineers with pedigrees from Microsoft Kinect and Apple's Face ID—including CEO Alexander Shpunt—Lyte AI is targeting a specific structural inefficiency in the robotics industry. Currently, developers often spend months manually calibrating disparate sensors sourced from multiple different vendors before a robot can function reliably.
To solve this, Lyte AI developed "LyteVision," a plug-and-play perception layer. The platform vertically integrates 4D vision, RGB imaging, and IMU motion sensing into a single system. By combining custom silicon with these 4D sensors, the company provides a unified sensing stack that removes the integration friction typically associated with complex robotic builds.
The Stakes for Physical AI
As the broader AI robotics market expands, the industry faces a significant bottleneck: the gap between digital intelligence and physical execution. While LLMs have advanced reasoning, the physical hardware must be able to "see" and interpret the world with high precision to be useful in industrial settings.

By reducing the time and technical overhead required to implement accurate perception, Lyte AI seeks to lower the barrier for industrial companies to adopt large-scale robotic automation.

With the backing of Maverick Silicon and previous participants such as Fidelity Management & Research Co. and Exor Ventures, Lyte AI is positioned as a key infrastructure provider for the next wave of automation. The company's success depends on whether its vertically integrated approach can become the industry standard over the traditional modular sensor model. Observers will now be watching for the first large-scale industrial deployments of the LyteVision platform in commercial humanoid or autonomous vehicle fleets.
