Autonomous Solutions Inc. (ASI), U.S. Sugar Corp., and Everglades Equipment Group have launched the largest commercial deployment of autonomous tractors in the American sugar industry. The deployment features five autonomous John Deere tractors—specifically four 8R Series and one 9R Series—operating across U.S. Sugar's 255,000-acre footprint. This land spans five South Florida counties: Highlands, Glades, Hendry, Palm Beach, and Martin. The automation is powered by ASI's Mobius platform, a manufacturer-agnostic system that integrates with existing drive-by-wire hardware to automate traditional machinery.

In Florida, the urgency for operational continuity has been heightened by extreme climate events; recent deep freezes in the state resulted in estimated agricultural losses exceeding $3.1 billion.
