Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the completion of the Sydor Optics Advanced Technology Center at Monroe Community College's (MCC) main campus in Brighton, New York. The $69.6 million facility is designed to scale the college's technical training capacity and integrate its Optical Systems Technology program with broader STEM initiatives.
The project relocates critical technology programs from an outdated site on West Henrietta Road to the state-of-the-art Brighton campus. This move provides students with access to modern, industry-standard equipment and a consolidated hub for technical learning. The expansion arrives during a period of explosive growth for the college; the Optical Systems Technology program has seen a 3,520 percent increase in student enrollment since 2015.
