NCTC and Prosurety Launch 'Complete Device Advantage' for MVNOs

The partnership provides smaller broadband operators with a unified suite of device subsidies, financing, and protection tools to compete with major carriers.

The National Content and Technology Cooperative (NCTC) has partnered with Prosurety to launch "Complete Device Advantage," a program designed to give smaller broadband operators a competitive edge in the mobile market. The initiative allows NCTC members to offer a comprehensive set of handset benefits that were previously the exclusive domain of major wireless carriers.

Powered by Prosurety's "Complete Mobile" technology, the program integrates directly into NCTC's Mobile Solution via the Telgoo5 platform. The resulting suite of benefits includes device subsidies, financing options, trade-in programs, and handset upgrades. Additionally, the partnership introduces device protection services to help members safeguard customer hardware.

The MVNO Competitive Gap

Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), which include many of the smaller cable and broadband cooperatives served by NCTC, have historically struggled to match the aggressive hardware incentives offered by industry giants. While monthly service pricing is often competitive, the high upfront cost of flagship smartphones remains a significant barrier to customer acquisition.

According to Prosurety, the primary challenge for MVNOs has not been the monthly billing structure, but rather the inability to compete with the massive device discounts and bundled financing packages provided by the largest wireless carriers. By consolidating these financial tools into a single platform, NCTC members can now mimic the "big carrier" experience without the operational burden of managing multiple third-party vendors for insurance and credit.

Impact on Regional Providers

This shift is critical for regional providers aiming to increase customer "stickiness" and lifetime value. By making high-end handsets more affordable through subsidies and financing, smaller operators can attract a broader demographic of users who would otherwise be locked into contracts with national providers.

Furthermore, the inclusion of device protection and trade-in cycles creates a continuous relationship between the provider and the consumer. This reduces churn in a mobile-first market where the hardware often serves as the primary anchor for the service subscription.

Looking Ahead

As NCTC members begin deploying Complete Device Advantage through the Telgoo5 platform, the industry will be watching to see if these tools significantly shift market share from national carriers to regional cooperatives. While the technical integration is complete, the long-term success of the program will depend on the adoption rates among NCTC's member base and the ability of these smaller operators to market these new financial benefits effectively to their local subscribers.
