Realme Launches 16x 5G in India with 7,000 mAh Battery and Android 16
The new budget device pairs military-grade durability with a massive battery and a 144Hz display.
Realme has expanded its Indian portfolio with the launch of the Realme 16x 5G, a device engineered for extreme endurance and physical resilience. The smartphone targets a specific niche of users who prioritize battery longevity and ruggedness over premium camera specifications.
The device is centered around a massive 7,000 mAh battery, significantly exceeding the 5,000 mAh industry standard. To manage this capacity, Realme has included 45W fast charging, 6.5W reverse wired charging, and all-scenario bypass charging to reduce heat during intensive use. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G SoC paired with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 graphics.
On the front, the 16x 5G features a 6.81-inch HD+ LCD display. The screen is notable for its 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, providing a fluid experience for budget-conscious users. For protection, the panel is covered by Panda-1681 glass.
Built for Durability
Beyond internal specs, Realme has positioned the 16x 5G as a rugged alternative in the budget segment. The device carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance and has achieved MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock resistance. This certification ensures the hardware can withstand significant physical stress, making it a viable option for users in demanding environments.
Software and Market Position
In a rare move for the budget category, the Realme 16x 5G ships with Android 16 out of the box, running Realme UI 7.0. The company has committed to a support lifecycle that includes two major OS upgrades and three years of security updates, suggesting a push toward longer device ownership cycles.
This strategy places the 16x 5G in direct competition with other budget 5G handsets in India, where high refresh rates and battery capacity are primary drivers of consumer choice. By combining these with military-grade certifications, Realme is attempting to differentiate the device from standard mid-range offerings.
Pricing and Availability
In the Indian market, the Realme 16x 5G is available in three configurations. The base model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ₹25,999. A 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is available for ₹27,999, while the top-tier 6GB RAM and 256GB storage model is priced at ₹30,999. While launch offers may affect the final effective price, these figures establish the device's position in the competitive entry-to-mid-level 5G market.
