Pudu Robotics has launched the MP2000, an AI-native autonomous pallet handling robot designed to streamline industrial logistics. The move signals a strategic shift for the company as it expands from small-item delivery into heavy-duty warehouse and factory workflows.

Engineered for floor-to-floor material transport, the MP2000 features a maximum payload capacity of 2,000 kg. The system is capable of completing fork-in pallet pickup cycles in as little as 20 seconds. To navigate complex industrial environments, the robot utilizes a suite of 3D LiDAR and depth cameras, enabling real-time obstacle avoidance and precise pallet identification.

Hardware versatility is central to the design; the MP2000 supports various common pallet formats, including perimeter-base and three-runner pallets, and can handle non-standard load carriers. Additionally, the robot features a hybrid operational mode, allowing it to function as a fully autonomous unit or as a powered manual forklift via operator override.

Lowering the Automation Barrier

Founded in 2016 in Shenzhen, Pudu Robotics previously built its reputation on commercial service robots, such as the BellaBot, and the T Series of industrial delivery AMRs. The introduction of the MP2000 represents an expansion into core industrial logistics, specifically targeting loading docks and production workshops where standardized pallet handling is critical.

This launch addresses a significant pain point in warehouse automation: infrastructure cost. Traditional autonomous forklifts typically require extensive site modifications, such as the installation of reflectors or QR codes on floors and walls to facilitate navigation. By relying on AI-native perception and 3D LiDAR, the MP2000 is designed for deployment without these modifications, allowing companies to scale robotic capacity without disrupting existing facility layouts or investing in heavy infrastructure.

Industry Implications

By removing the requirement for site-wide markers, Pudu aims to lower the barrier to entry for mid-sized industrial operations that cannot afford the downtime or expense of a full facility overhaul.
