Cineon has collaborated with Magnox to develop specialized VR training tools designed for the dismantling of nuclear facilities. A primary feature of this partnership is the creation of a Virtual Laser Cutter, which allows operators to practice the precise movements required for decommissioning activities. These tools are currently being used to interface with proposed activities at the Winfrith site, a former nuclear experimental facility.

The Challenge of Decommissioning

Nuclear decommissioning involves the systematic dismantling of radioactive infrastructure, a process that is inherently dangerous and costly. Because these environments are contaminated, every minute a human worker spends inside a facility increases their cumulative radiation dose.
