Brewer Science Acquires Heraeus Epurio’s Semiconductor Chemicals Business
The deal integrates a critical Ohio production site and Asian support staff to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply chain.
Brewer Science, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire the semiconductor chemicals business line of Heraeus Epurio. The move is designed to expand the company's advanced materials portfolio and deepen its vertical integration within the global semiconductor supply chain.
The acquisition includes the Heraeus Epurio semiconductor chemicals production facility located in Dayton, Ohio, as well as associated sales and support personnel based in Asia. Through this deal, Brewer Science gains Heraeus Epurio’s specialized capabilities in ultrapure specialty chemicals, specifically the production of photo-initiators, photoacid generators, crosslinkers, and monomers.
Strengthening the Material Pipeline
Brewer Science has operated as a provider of specialty materials and equipment for the microelectronics industry since 1981. The integration of Heraeus Epurio’s business is a strategic pivot toward controlling more of the upstream chemical process. Heraeus Epurio is recognized as a technology leader in ultrapure electronic chemicals, which are vital for advanced chip manufacturing and lithography because they maintain exceptionally low trace-metal content.
Impact on the Global Supply Chain
This acquisition strengthens the domestic U.S. semiconductor supply chain by bringing critical chemical production under a single integrated entity. By securing these ultrapure chemical capabilities, Brewer Science is better positioned to support customers operating at advanced technology nodes. This vertical integration is expected to improve the overall reliability and quality of the materials required for the fabrication of cutting-edge microdevices.
Dr. Sri Kommu, co-CEO of Brewer Science, stated that the acquisition represents a strategic advancement in the company's "Zero Defects journey." He noted that as materials become increasingly critical to the global semiconductor value chain, this move strengthens the company's ability to provide a reliable and timely supply of material solutions. Co-CEO Dan Brewer added that the acquisition aligns with the company's long-term commitment to manufacturing excellence and its broader strategy of diversification and growth.
Future Outlook
Industry observers will now look to how quickly Brewer Science can integrate the Dayton facility and the Asian support teams into its existing operations. The primary focus remains on whether this consolidation will accelerate the delivery of materials for the next generation of semiconductor nodes, as the industry continues to face pressure to secure stable, high-purity domestic sourcing.
