Pixxel Raises $100 Million in India's Largest Space-Tech Funding Round
The hyperspectral imaging startup secures record capital led by Temasek and Seraphim Space to scale its planetary monitoring infrastructure.
Indian space-tech startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking the largest single investment ever recorded for a space technology company in India. The capital injection positions the firm to scale its orbital imaging capabilities as global demand for high-resolution environmental data grows.
The funding round was co-led by Singapore's state investor Temasek and the UK-based Seraphim Space Investment Trust. Additional participation came from new investors, including South Korea's IMM Investment and 360 ONE Asset. This latest round brings Pixxel's total capital raised to $195 million. The company currently maintains six operational Firefly satellites in orbit, which serve as the foundation for its data collection network.
The Hyperspectral Advantage
Unlike traditional satellites that capture images in broad color bands, Pixxel specializes in hyperspectral orbital imagery. This technology captures light across hundreds of narrow bands, allowing the company to identify specific chemical signatures from space. This capability is critical for detecting methane leaks, identifying mineral content in the earth, and spotting early signs of crop disease that are invisible to the human eye or standard cameras.
This technical edge has already attracted high-profile institutional clients. Pixxel holds existing contracts with NASA and the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). Furthermore, the company is currently leading a consortium selected by IN-SPACe, India's space regulator, to develop a national Earth observation constellation consisting of 12 satellites.

This milestone signals a shift in the Indian space ecosystem, proving that private domestic startups can attract massive tranches of global institutional capital. By bridging the gap between commercial constellations and sovereign national programs, Pixxel is evolving from a startup into a provider of critical planetary infrastructure. The ability to secure funding from diverse geographies—spanning Singapore, the UK, and South Korea—underscores the global strategic value of hyperspectral data for both environmental security and intelligence.
